      Strength and Conditioning Coach
      VENESCO LLC
      Hoopes Landing, VA

      Job Description

      Job Description
      Description:

      Strength and Conditioning Coach

Venesco LLC is looking for a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach to join a multidisciplinary team to optimize soldier readiness and performance in the Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) System. This Strength and Conditioning Coach is a leadership role on the H2F team where you would work with a very experienced group of professionals. In this role, you will onboard staff and guide the H2F team across the country providing best practices, etc. for strength and conditioning.

The H2F System is the Army’s primary investment in Soldier readiness and lethality, optimal physical and non-physical performance, reduced injury rates, improved rehabilitation after injury, and increased overall effectiveness of the Total Army. The system empowers and equips Soldiers to take charge of their health, fitness, and well-being to optimize individual performance, while preventing injury and disease.

The H2F concept is vastly different from a clinical setting. Most work will be performed in a military training environment (i.e. fitness centers/gyms, BDE/BN/CO or administrative areas, outdoors, ranges, field training environments, and at the SPRC). The ATs will be required to observe BDE and below (i.e. BN, CO, platoon, squad, team) specific training events (e.g., shooting range, obstacle courses, combatives training areas). Providing forward MSK care in the training environment, outside of the clinical setting minimizes lost training time and ensures early identification of injuries. Well-trained, combat-ready Soldiers are best produced by allocating healthcare assets that facilitate the early identification and management of MSK injuries, prevention of injuries, and optimization of physical performance.

Soldiers perform repetitive physical tasks, such as, foot marching, drill and ceremony, rifle marksmanship, and repeated obstacle course circuits, resulting in a high number of overuse-type injuries. The types of injuries commonly seen in the Army are very similar to those commonly seen in athletics, including sprains, strains, tendonitis, and stress fractures. AT services as part of a H2F Performance Team will provide forward MSK care, increase physical resiliency, perform early intervention, and performance optimization services, for designated installation/BDE sites.

Responsibilities of the Strength and Conditioning Coach:

      • Understand and communicate necessary actions required to establish and administer effective strength and conditioning training programs designed to maximize the physical performance and reduce the risk of MSK injuries of BDE personnel.

      • Instruct and adjust the physical training approach into and around the Soldier’s health, the BDE mission and the training calendar by adjusting timing and intensity of care into the battle rhythm of the unit.
      • Ensure understanding of the importance of the Soldier as an integrated member of the BDE and how by providing strength and conditioning coaching within the brigade area and sustaining direct contact with other members of the brigade enhances unit cohesion.
      • Teach how to establish influence and build beneficial relationships to further advocate for the H2F team and promote to unit leaders the best approaches to unit readiness.
      • Participate in in-person or virtual pre-implementation planning meetings with the HIT and BDE representatives to prepare strength and conditioning specific plan based on unit assessment for the implementation site visit.
      • Disseminate prerequisite information/tasks for BDE leaders and the BDE H2F Performance Team. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, pre-briefs with unit representatives, unit data analysis, content verification, and BDE culture/history review.
      • Based on needs assessment of unit, create additional or modify existing H2F implementation content. Content to be approved by Government prior to use.
      • Attend implementation site visits with the HIT to deliver standardized H2F implementation plan, and to optimize the BDE H2F Performance Team’s execution within the framework of the unit’s training/operational schedule, battle rhythm, and culture.
