Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. Duties

  • Cardiologist performs inpatient and outpatient Cardiology consultation and interpret diagnostic tests such as treadmill - nuclear scanning - echocardiography - Zio patch and Holter Monitors
  • Work in a team setting to perform duties to accomplish the treatment of our patients
  • Incumbent participates in quality assurance programs and chart reviews
  • Duties: Provide expertise and support the various functions of Non-Invasive Cardiology and patient care
  • Provide comprehensive cardiac services - echocardiography - stress echocardiograms - TEE and diagnostic cardiac catheterizations
  • Consult and treat Veterans while also performing stress test procedures (nuclear - chemical and routine treadmill) and echocardiography readings - Holter monitor - and EKG interpretations
  • Provides education and counseling of Veterans and families in preventive care - medical conditions - and use of prescribed treatments and drugs
  • Establish professional working relationships with clinical service providers within the medical center - Outpatient Clinics (OPCs) - and the Community Base Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) - providing telephone and curbside consultation as needed and screening consults that are received for appropriateness prior to scheduling
  • Staff Cardiologists are ultimately responsible for the oversight of all aspects of cardiac medical care delivered to patients under their care
  • Participate in Cardiology and general medical staff meetings - committee - assignments - compliance and other components of an organized medical staff provider
  • Responsible for providing inpatient and outpatient care
  • Supports Academic Affiliations pertinent to Cardiology
  • Will provide residency and medical student teaching

Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (COM) collaborates with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center to advance medical education, procedures, and research. The Department of Ophthalmology is an expansive department spanning all sub-specialties in ophthalmology and is affiliated with the Cincinnati Eye Institute. The department seeks an academic Assistant/Associate/Professor of Ophthalmology as an Oculoplastic surgeon for a part-time, non-tenure track position. The oculoplastics service is an active faculty group performing cases ranging from simple cosmetic and functional procedures to complex orbital and reconstructive surgery. Since resident education is a prominent feature, enthusiasm for teaching is preferred. The successful applicant will be provided with a competitive salary and benefits; final faculty rank/title will be commensurate with the candidate's experience.

Essential Functions

  • Perform clinical duties in Ophthalmology and Oculoplastics. The candidate will be expected to:
  • Participate in the operating room and outpatient clinic.
  • Advise and train fellows, residents, and medical students.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to an academic career through research, teaching, and supporting the department's academic mission.
  • Attend departmental and divisional meetings as relevant, including grand rounds and educational conferences.

Minimum Requirements

  • MD/DO or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited residency in Ophthalmology
  • Completion of Oculoplastic Fellowship
  • Board eligible or Board certified in Ophthalmology
  • Licensure by the Ohio Medical Board is required at the time of appointment
