Quality & Process Improvement Coordinator
Position Summary
The Quality & Process Improvement Specialist is responsible for supporting and improving the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) while driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout manufacturing operations. This position works cross-functionally to identify process inefficiencies, implement corrective actions, improve product quality, reduce waste, and support operational excellence initiatives. The role serves as a key resource for quality compliance, process standardization, root cause analysis, and performance improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Systems
· Maintain and support the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with company standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
· Assist with internal and external audits, including customer and certification audits.
· Develop, review, and maintain procedures, work instructions, process maps, and quality documentation.
· Support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes and verify effectiveness of implemented actions.
· Track and report quality performance metrics, including customer complaints, nonconformances, scrap, and rework.
· Participate in investigations related to quality issues and customer concerns.
· Conduct routine field audits of Standardized Task Sheets (STS) and Task Instruction Sheets (TIS).
· Observe employees performing work against documented standards.
· Verify that documented methods, sequence, equipment, frequency, safety requirements, and completion times accurately reflect field conditions.
· Identify discrepancies between documented standard work and actual work performed.
· Recommend STS/TIS revisions based on validated observations.
· Maintain documentation of findings, corrective actions, revisions, and verification.
Process Improvement
· Implement and support continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
· Facilitate root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, Pareto Analysis, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
· Evaluate manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality.
· Implement Lean Manufacturing principles, waste reduction initiatives, and process standardization activities.
· Assist departments in developing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
· Support value stream mapping and workflow improvement efforts.
· Responsible for auditing employee equipment/ BPD boards and GMS as required,
Data Analysis & Reporting
· Collect, analyze, and interpret operational and quality data.
· Develop reports and dashboards to communicate trends and improvement opportunities.
· Monitor process performance and recommend actions to improve operational effectiveness.
· Utilize statistical analysis techniques to support decision-making and process control.
Training & Collaboration
· Train employees on quality procedures, process improvements, and best practices.
· Work with production, engineering, maintenance, and leadership teams to implement sustainable process improvements.
· Support employee engagement in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities.
· Participate in cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
Qualifications
Education
· Bachelor's degree preferred in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
· Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, quality assurance, continuous improvement, or operational excellence.
· Experience working with Quality Management Systems and manufacturing processes.
· Experience leading improvement projects and facilitating root cause investigations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management principles.
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
· Familiarity with Six Sigma tools and concepts.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
· Strong organizational and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
· 3-5 years in quality Experience
· ERP systems and business intelligence reporting tools.
· Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and quality improvement methodologies.
