Job Summary

Two years’ of experience in a healthcare field required.

If working in an Acute setting, Board of Certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control, Inc. (CBIC) is required. If certification is not obtained at the time of hire, a full time employed incumbent is required to sit for the exam within 36 months from date of hire. A part time employed incumbent is required to sit for the exam within 48 months from date of hire. A 12-month extension is allowed from the date of the first exam. Communicates resident's changing condition and care related concerns/responses to the charge nurse. Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital signs. Provides housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational. Provides assistance and documentation with wellness and recreational programs and encourages residents to participate. May participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed.

This is a part time PM shift with short shifts.

Qualifications

High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.

Minimum age of 16. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.

Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement. CNA training and certification required and provided by facility.

Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year. A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually. Maintains all department specific required certifications.

When applicable, for applicable states, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.

Dependent on facility and required responsibilities, this role may classify as a Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor

vehicle report and proof of valid driver’s license. Also must be medically qualified to perform the essential driving functions of

this position as per our Sanford Driving Policy per the leaders request.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nursing, related clinical field, or graduate from an approved Masters of Public Health program preferred.

If degree is in nursing, graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).

Two years’ of experience in a healthcare field required.

If working in an Acute setting, Board of Certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control, Inc. (CBIC) is required. If certification is not obtained at the time of hire, a full time employed incumbent is required to sit for the exam within 36 months from date of hire. A part time employed incumbent is required to sit for the exam within 48 months from date of hire. A 12-month extension is allowed from the date of the first exam. At the end of the 12 months, if certification has not been obtained, an action plan will be devised by leadership in consultation with human resources.

If working in a Post-Acute setting, completion of an approved Infection Prevention course by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is required.

If a licensed registered nurse (RN), currently hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.

  • Documents and reports any pertinent changes to the Nurse, Charge Nurse, and Provider. Provides patient reports to other staff as necessary.

  • Communicates and processes necessary paperwork/information for patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.

  • Participates in unit-based Shared Governance activities and assists with the implementation of changes as recommended by councils.

  • Performs other functions as directed.

  • May observe patient cardiac monitors and maintain records. Documents and reports any pertinent rate or rhythm changes, especially life-threatening dysrhythmias.  Informs of any drug treatments as appropriate. Notifies the Nurse immediately of any death-producing arrhythmias and documents findings.

  • May receive emergent and non-emergent medical telephone calls from internal and external contacts. Ensures equal distribution of arriving patients by team in the Emergency Department (ED).   Maintains accurate, legible dispatch records for the department.

  • Make transfer arrangements with the appropriate Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transport agency for ED patients needing to be transferred.  Directs responding ambulance crews to the appropriate area of the ED for patient transfer.

  • Maintains positive communications and collaboration with the EMS service line, as well as other internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

The SkillBridge Paramedic opportunity is designed for Active‑Duty Service Members who are separating or retiring from the military and are seeking a civilian paramedic career within a mission‑driven healthcare organization.

Through hands‑on, supervised experience, participants will:

  • Gain familiarity with local protocols and participate in patient care in a high volume EMS system with great educational and onboarding support
  • Get a jump start on field training and onboarding within our organization with the goal of future employment.
  • Focus on the clinical portion of the role and utilize your full scope of practice as a Paramedic.

This SkillBridge fellowship may last up to 180 days, in accordance with DoW SkillBridge guidelines. Participants remain on active duty and continue to receive military pay and benefits throughout the program.

How you support the community.

Qualifications:

  • MUST BE ACTIVE‑DUTY MILITARY TO QUALIFY
  • New Mexico Paramedic license required NM EMS Bureau (Reciprocity easily obtained from another active state license)
  • Must have current ACLS and BLS through AHA, ASHI, or Red Cross
  • Must be up to date with FEMA 100, 200, 700 courses
  • Must obtain medical examiner certification/DOT certification as part of on-boarding.
