This position reports to the Product Manager, Library & Archival Systems and works closely with staff from across the organization, including librarians, archivists, subject-matter experts, and technologists, to help manage, coordinate, and carry out technical work within our library systems. This role also evaluates application issues, provides application assistance to a large group of stakeholders, and keeps documentation updated. This is an opportunity for an information professional interested in systems librarianship who also possesses excellent communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to work with little supervision, keen research abilities, and a desire to continuously learn and expand their skill set.

Major Job Responsibilities

  • Provide support for Alma, Ex Libris’ library management service platform
  • Provide support for ILLiad, OCLC and Atlas’ interlibrary loan application
  • Provide support for Springshare suite of library applications (LibApps)
  • Performs tasks related to library systems projects
  • Conducts research on best practices, standards and case studies related to library systems
  • Collaborates with program staff and application vendor support to optimize systems
  • Evaluates library-related data and system configurations to resolve reported issues
  • Assist in testing system upgrades and enhancements in sandbox environment, develop testing scripts, and coordinate testing with staff
  • Documents user requirements and develops end-user documentation and user facing knowledge articles
  • Follows department procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • 0-2 years experience with IT systems

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience working with library systems, preferably in the academic or cultural heritage domains.
  • Direct experience with Alma (library management system), ILLiad and/or Springshare is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging library technologies, metadata standards, workflows, and best practices
  • Experience remediating metadata in different formats and standards, including MARC and EAD
  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS, XML, and XSLT
