Summary:
Protective Security Officers - Utility Officers will provide a variety of security services for the Federal Protective Service contract.
This position is part-time and relief for multiple sites.
A Utility Officer covers medical leaves, sicknesses, vacations and open posts that do not have an officer assigned. The utility officer must have open availability and be able to work weekends and holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Protect personnel and property in a professional manner.
- Meet and deal tactfully and politely with general public and visitors.
- Effectively and efficiently screen and process visitors.
- Identify, report, delay, or detain persons who violate rules and regulations.
- Conduct internal and external roving foot patrols.
- Traffic control.
- Ability to maintain excellent detection rate on x-ray machine.
- Detect and respond to alarms and emergencies.
- Secure entrances and exits during emergencies.
- Control keys and lock combinations.
- Communicate and remain accessible via two-way radio or company issued cellular phone.
- Understand and comply with all requirements defined within company documents to include Post and General Orders, plans, policies, and procedures.
- Observe and report all offenses/incidents.
- Complete all reports and paperwork as required.
- Provide first aid, CPR, and assist during emergencies as necessary.
- Must be able to wear protective body armor as a part of the duty uniforms.
- Maintain mandated training requirements in accordance with company guidance.
- Maintain physical fitness, agility requirements, and weapons qualifications.
- Ensure safety requirements compliance and safe work practices.
- Support safety programs.
- Participate in Quality and Process improvement programs.
- . Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- A minimum of two (2) years of armed security or one (1) year of law enforcement experience in a full-duty status with a full-service police department in a municipality, state, or federal law enforcement department within the U.S, and has resigned or retired in good standing; or
- A minimum of two (2) years of honorable service as a member or any U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Cost Guard) component.
- Shall fluently speak, read, comprehend English, and be able to compose written reports in English.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos using the English language.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating policies, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems, involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
- Some posts may require an individual to have knowledge of internet programs, Word Processing software and other software as required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Other Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age; Must be a United States citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard); A Social Security Card issued by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individuals name and social security number is required. Must meet medical standards as specified by the contract.
