Therapeutic Services Aide
Saginaw Public Schools Therapeutic Services Aide are responsible for instructional support and technical skill support of students enrolled in the Nursing and Medical Careers Program. The support will be provided under the direction of the Program Primary Instructor(s). Specific responsibilities include preparing students for a career in Health Occupations by teaching them basic and advanced technical skills needed to obtain a CNA, MA, and other related certifications. In addition, the Therapeutic Services Aide will help supervise students during Work Based Learning/Clinical rotations at off site locations.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Provide support and instruction under the direction of the instructor, to students who may be having difficulty in understanding technical concepts or skills.
- Reinforce the academic and career and technical skills covered by the instructor.
- Participate as a member of a team to assist with problem solving situations as they relate to student and program needs.
- Participate in professional development activities and state and national certifications where applicable.
- Assist in the development of mentorship sites.
- Assist with student mentorship assignments.
- Assist in placement of students by sharing recommendations based on a working knowledge of the students.
- Discuss student progress and needs with instructor on a regular basis.
- Active involvement in the coordination of student clubs.
- Participate in advisory committee meetings.
- Assist in monitoring of student academic progress.
- Active involvement in Saginaw Career Complex school committees.

Education and/or experience high school diploma required related work experience minimum 2 years of related work experience. (Nursing - CNA, LPN, or RN). (Medical - Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Dentistry, Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, etc.) Able to be Train the Trainer Certified preferred Effective communication and leadership skills Ability to work with high school students possessing a full range of abilities.
Valid Driver's License required. Preferred: CNA, LPN or RN license Preferred: Able to be Train the Trainer Certified.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to be able to hear conversations in quiet and noisy environments.
The employee regularly works near moving mechanical/medical equipment. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
