You will be joined by the most experienced surgical team in the RTP region. Our surgeons have over 60 years of experience among them. Our anesthesia service is led by an anesthesia residency-trained doctor, who heads up our experienced RVT team. Our relationships with the referring doctors have been built over 25 plus years. Their steady referring business will help the internist build a steady and loyal partnership.

Not only will you have access to in‑house digital radiography, endoscopy, CT, and ultrasound, you will be able to collaborate with specialists across the EVG Specialty Network, including radiation oncologists, nephrologists, and cardiologists.

Overview:

Under the direction of the Executive Vice President, Medical, the Family Medicine Physician delivers primary care commensurate with training and experience to all Avenue 360 patients. Job purpose

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides primary medical care in accordance with the provider’s medical specialty
  • Develops a plan of care for each patient, including medical history, physical examination, diagnosis and appropriate treatment and/or referral, including hospitalization if necessary

  • Performs other necessary duties as required by the FHCHC to achieve the goal of providing high quality service and health care

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy.

Mission or goal of unit| The Division is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research, and clinical care in the fields of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology. We do so by providing superior, compassionate and innovative clinical care to our patients and to conduct and disseminate clinical, research and scholarship, with a focus on the care of patients and education of future clinicians.

Chief Purpose of this Position | We are seeking a Rheumatologist for a clinician faculty position within the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical | Will provide exemplary care in the area of Rheumatology in outpatient ambulatory clinics and on consult services.

Teaching | This position will be actively involved in the education and training of the Rheumatology fellows.

  • Provide teaching service to learners, including medical students, interns and residents
  • Use contemporary adult learning methods to promote evidence-based practice
  • Demonstrate effective teaching skills and continually develop as a teacher for learners at all levels
  • Complete required evaluations of learners in a timely manner – including but not limited to written and verbal feedback
  • Participate in other learning activities such as foundations of clinical medicine, morning report, core conference, and other formal educational programs for undergraduate and post-graduate learners
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty at VCU

  • Board certified in Rheumatology and in Internal Medicine

Job Duties

  • Examine the health of a patient to help make proper diagnosis of clinical conditions and prescribing medication, treatments, and follow-up care as required.
  • Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions
  • Provide care directly and indirectly by working with other members of an interdisciplinary team to formulate treatment plans.
  • Timely record patient encounters in Electronic Health Record
  • Request further medical evaluations and make referrals, as necessary.
  • Understand and commit to the highest standards of professionalism; willingness to hold others to those standards.
  • Commit to collaboration with all members of the department to provide quality patient care.
  • Ensure accurate coding of all patient visits.
  • Comply with policies, procedures, bylaws, processes of privileging/credentialing, and standards of care that are conducive to the provision of high-quality medical services consistent with accreditation standards, state and federal licensure or regulations, Medicare, Medicaid, and other regulations, guidelines, requirements, and statutes as applicable.
