Principal Systems Architect
General Atomics
san diego, ca
Compensation: 140.940 - 252.293

Job Summary

GA-EMS is seeking a Principal Systems Architect to lead the technical direction and execution of our enterprise digital transformation initiatives. This individual will serve as the primary architect bridging the gap between advanced technology (GenAI, Machine Learning, RPA) and critical business operations, targeting the modernization of workflows across Programs, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance (QA), Configuration-Data Management, Finance, and IT Infrastructure.

This is a senior technical role for a high-impact, complex automation ecosystem supporting U.S. Government and commercial programs. The architecture involves real-time data extraction from legacy systems (SAP, PEO, MPM, PLM), predictive machine learning for manufacturing and QA defect analysis, and GenAI-driven automation for software processes and financial/EVMS reporting. Operating within a highly secure, CMMC-compliant defense cloud environment, this system serves a diverse internal user base of program, engineering, manufacturing, material management, and financial managers and executive leadership.

The right candidate is a strong systems thinker, an experienced AI/automation architect, and a credible technical authority who will own the system design from concept to deployment. This person must possess a balance of deep technical depth to architect secure machine learning pipelines across varied data domains, the operational drive to execute projects on schedule, and the executive presence to translate complex technology into clear business ROI (throughput, quality, margin protection) for stakeholders up to the COO level.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with cross-functional leadership to understand manual data extraction chokepoints and architect automated "future state" solutions for the entire product lifecycle.
  • Define and maintain the overall technical architecture of a complex enterprise automation ecosystem spanning RPA, Machine Learning, and GenAI applications across multiple business units.
  • Architect data pipelines that integrate diverse enterprise systems, such as ERP (SAP, Production Engineering and Operations), Quality Management Systems (QMS), Project reporting tools (PowerBI, MPM, Project Server) and Configuration-Data Management/PLM tools (e.g., Windchill, Atlassian).
  • Provide technical leadership to automate complex workflows, such as Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) routing, automated QA defect prediction, DevSecOps infrastructure monitoring, and predictive financial EVMS reporting.
  • Take ownership of end-to-end system cybersecurity, ensuring all AI and automation initiatives strictly comply with DoD data protection standards, CMMC, and Zero Trust architectures.
  • Proactively identify technical risks, architectural friction points, and integration challenges before they impact project delivery or system accreditation.
  • Exercise sound engineering judgment to evaluate tradeoffs among deployment speed, system resiliency, maintainability, and long-term enterprise health.
  • Represent the digital transformation program as a senior technical leader, confidently presenting strategies, roadmaps, and cross-functional ROI metrics to the COO and other executive stakeholders.
  • Mentor technical team members and help strengthen the digital engineering bench across the GA-EMS organization.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology or related field and fourteen or more year's progressive experience in designing information technology system architecture. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Significant experience architecting and deploying Intelligent Automation (RPA) and Machine Learning/AI addressing workflows and pipelines across a broad enterprise encompassing Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance lifecycles.
  • Strong systems engineering mindset with a deep understanding of complex data integration across ERPs (SAP), Configuration-Data Management/PLM (e.g., Windchill, Atlassian), and infrastructure management tools.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, specifically securing AI models and data pipelines within Department of Defense (DoD) or heavily regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead across organizational boundaries, balancing technical know-how with the execution drive required to push multi-departmental projects across the finish line.
  • Proactive leadership style with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and the confidence to make bold but disciplined decisions.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the proven ability to present complex technical concepts to senior business executives (C-suite) and non-technical operational leaders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An active Security Clearance is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense contractors, with a broad understanding of defense manufacturing standards (MPEO workflows), configuration-data management, and financial compliance (EVMS).
  • Experience with modern software delivery processes, DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code automation.
  • Experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) or generative AI tools into internal corporate workflows using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) within secure environments like GCC High or Microsoft Purview.

We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.

Senior Software Engineer, Billing
Scribe
san francisco, ca
Compensation: 170.000 - 200.000

TL;DR - Why This Role Matters

We’re hiring a Senior Engineer to own and evolve Scribe’s billing platform. This system sits at the center of how Scribe makes money, powering revenue across 5M+ users and 600K+ organizations.

You’ll design and operate the infrastructure behind subscriptions, enterprise invoicing, pricing changes, and the subscription lifecycle. Parts of the system need hardening. Parts need redesign. You’ll do both.

This is backend-heavy work with real architectural headroom and clear long-term expansion into entitlements and monetization systems.

About the Role

Billing at Scribe is core infrastructure. It supports both our self-serve product and a growing enterprise business. It must remain financially correct, resilient under failure, and adaptable as revenue complexity increases.

The challenge is not just processing payments. It’s designing systems that stay correct as pricing evolves, enterprise contracts grow more complex, and billing integrates more deeply with product access and reporting systems.

You’ll join a small, focused team with meaningful ownership. You won’t be handed tightly scoped tickets. You’ll define system behavior, resolve ambiguity, evaluate edge cases, and make sound architectural tradeoffs.

This role involves both stabilizing and redesigning parts of the platform. Some areas need hardening and operational rigor. Others need cleaner abstractions and long-term architectural direction.

Over time, this role will expand beyond billing into adjacent systems such as entitlements and broader monetization infrastructure, shaping how pricing, access control, and revenue systems work together.

Our stack includes Django, DRF, Celery, PostgreSQL, Stripe, and Next.js. This is primarily a backend role, but you’ll move across the stack when needed to unblock revenue‑critical work.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and evolve Scribe’s billing and subscription systems

  • Shape the long‑term architecture of our revenue platform as complexity scales

  • Design resilient, event‑driven systems that remain correct under retries, partial outages, and race conditions

  • Build and maintain reconciliation processes that Finance and leadership rely on

  • Improve subscription lifecycle reliability, including renewals, plan changes, invoicing, and payment recovery

  • Scale workflows that support both self‑serve users and enterprise customers

  • Enable safe pricing and packaging changes without compromising financial integrity

  • Improve system boundaries between billing, entitlements, and reporting to reduce coupling and increase maintainability

  • Ship customer‑facing billing flows and internal tooling when necessary

You Could Be a Great Fit If

  • You have 6+ years of software engineering experience

  • You have built or maintained billing, payments, or other high‑integrity financial systems in production

  • You think in terms of guarantees: consistency, idempotency, reconciliation, durability

  • You are comfortable scoping ambiguous problems and driving them end to end

  • You care deeply about correctness when money is involved

  • You are a strong backend engineer, ideally in Python and Django

  • You make sound architectural tradeoffs and are comfortable owning long‑term system evolution

  • You operate well with autonomy and accountability

  • Experience with Stripe or similar billing platforms is helpful but not required.

Bonus

  • Experience supporting pricing or packaging changes in production systems

  • Familiarity with enterprise invoicing workflows and sales‑assisted purchasing

  • Experience with SaaS tax compliance tools such as Anrok or Avalara

  • Experience partnering closely with Finance or Revenue Operations on reconciliation and reporting

  • Experience working on entitlements or access control systems

Senior Software Engineer Berlin or Potsdam · Full-time · Start: 01.08.2026 Details & apply →
Nulegal
remote, oh
Compensation: 69.508 - 115.848

We're building an AI-first LegalTech company where humans focus on thinking, systems, and decisions, and AI handles the bulk of execution.

We move fast, ship often, and operate with a high degree of ownership. There's no heavy hierarchy, no rigid roles, and no waiting for permission. If something is missing, we build it.

What you'll do

  • You'll work across our full platform: React Native, React, TypeScript, Python, FastAPI, and more.
  • Write specifications detailed enough that a teammate or an AI agent can implement them.
  • Push back on ideas. We expect you to treat product decisions as your own.
  • Automate everything that can be automated: internal tools, ops, QA, deploys, your own workflow.
  • Carry the mental load of several tasks at the same time. AI does the coding; you do the thinking and review.

How we code

  • We write all code with AI. Writing it by hand isn't fast enough for us.
  • Our coding velocity is very high. We ship multiple big features every week or two.
  • Humans design and architect features. AI writes the rest.
  • All code reviews require human approval.

Who we're looking for

  • Strong hands-on experience building and architecting complex systems. You've owned non-trivial systems end-to-end.
  • A communicator. You can present ideas, defend them, change your mind on good input, and write things down clearly.
  • A generalist mindset. We hire on willingness to learn whatever is needed. Your current stack doesn't have to be ours. Specialists are welcome if they're willing to stretch.
  • Willing to code with AI by default. Prior experience isn't required. You'll demonstrate it on the test day.
  • Comfortable in a flat structure. You won't have a PM filtering your work, an architect handing you a design, or a manager turning problems into tickets.
  • Bias toward solutions. If something is missing, build it.

What to expect

  • This is not a 9-to-6 job. The load is uneven, and overtime can come at any time.
  • We are a small team. We don't have a large engineering org or an internal platform team.
  • Roles overlap. Designers and non-engineers write code, and engineers do product work. If that doesn't suit you, this isn't the place.
  • Specs and priorities change. Anything in your queue today can be different next week.
  • Direct feedback is the norm. It goes both ways.

Stack

Where and how we work

  • Berlin or Potsdam.
  • Working language is English.
  • Plus 1 month per year work from anywhere.

Compensation

  • Salary is competitive.
  • Equity is above average for a German startup, on purpose. We want engineers who feel like owners.
  • Intro call (~30 minutes). First impressions on both sides; we decide if it's worth continuing.
  • CTO interview (~1 hour). Can get technical, no live coding. We want to see how you think, design, and argue.
  • Test day. About half a day in the office with the team, working on a real task. Not a toy exercise. This is where we see how you use AI tooling on real work.
