About the job

The Role

Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Provide operational leadership for BaseCamp Waltham’s Planning, Materials Management, and GMP Warehousing functions, including:
    • Site production scheduling, forecasting, and planning processes (e.g. Shop Floor Control/Tiered Meeting structure etc.)
    • Site-level Sales and Operations Planning (SOP) processes including Demand Planning, Production Planning, and Operational Planning for all products and product stages, including partnering with external accounts for joint-S&OP. Executes capacity modeling for existing partners and new potential partner demand forecasting including direct labor, suite modeling, and batch run scenarios. Supports Long Range Planning for suite utilization.
    • Material planning for products from tech transfer through routine clinical and commercial production. Establishment and refinement of planning BOMs and lifecycle management of BOMs for all manufacturing processes. Partner with technical teams to create standard BOM materials and functional equivalent assessments to streamline inventory, where applicable.
    • GMP warehouse activity and third party storage oversight including all aspects of site inventory across labs and manufacturing. Includes oversight of offsite cold chain and ambient storage and management/forecast of third party utilization and spend.
  • Ensure consistent, reliable, timely and compliant supply of products in accordance with the forecast and inventory requirements, the planning assumptions, and supply budget. Manage all site incoming and outgoing shipments, including drug product distribution and logistics.
  • Develop short- and long-term goals for the department in accordance with overall corporate and site objectives. Create, measure, trend, and report supply related KPIs as a basis to drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Quality to conduct risk assessment and supplier audit / qualification in support of site materials management program(s).
  • Management of drug product packaging, artwork, and labeling function.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Biotech, Supply Chain, or related field
  • At least 10 years of experience in a Manufacturing, Technical Operations, or Supply Chain environment supporting complex products. Experience in autologous gene or cell therapy a plus.
  • Direct experience in global demand/supply planning and/or S&OP required.
  • Experience working within a contract manufacturing or client service organization strongly preferred
  • Expertise in supply chain architectures and systems (e.g. SAP, MRP, planning software)

Position Overview

Managing Director of Schools (MDs) is a senior member of the KIPP CAP Regional Leadership responsible for the superior performance of schools in the regional portfolio, directly managing the overall portfolio of schools, principals, and initiatives that impact the education of future graduates.

Duties/Responsibilities

Managerial Leadership and Team Development
  • Manages 3+ School Principals across the Region.
  • Supervises the Principals in creating and implementing their school plans and priorities and managing schools to region‑wide benchmark goals.
  • Develops trusting relationships with the School Principal and consistently receives high‑quality transformational development that increases their effectiveness and outcomes at their schools.
  • Provides senior instructional leadership within the region, supporting technical skill building, continuous improvement, and impressive results for schools academically, culturally, and in human capital practices.
  • Coaches and develops principals and SLT members to achieve proficiency on 90% of One KIPP School Leadership Levers.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Schools Officer, Director of Leadership Development, and the Regional Team to deliver effective professional development to Principals.
  • Engages in collective learning in service of creating excellent schools, fostering a sense of belonging, and sustaining the work.
  • Supports the development of Principals in designing and leveraging their secondary leadership teams and establishing an effective operations partnership.
  • Serves as a thought partner to direct reports as they lead their respective teams; coaches and supports direct reports to address their key roles and responsibilities.
  • Supervises Principals in creating and implementing effective professional development opportunities for their teams.
  • Completes tri‑annual performance evaluations of direct reports (BOY, MOY, and EOY).
  • Supports the development of School Instructional Teams and successor leaders across all schools.
  • Builds a strong, cohesive team culture that reflects KIPP Capital Region values and vision.
Educational Leadership & Academic Support
  • Effectively supports and develops Principals to ensure they are implementing their academic strategies (region‑wide and school‑based) and all aspects of the talent strategies.
  • Builds and executes strategy, motivates others to make change, and invests in building relationships with stakeholders to support ambitious academic outcomes.
  • Supports and coaches Principals to meet regional performance metrics and ensures that regional policies/procedures are implemented at the school level.
  • Develops and manages instructional initiatives within the region and partners with MDs of School Operations to support School Leaders.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Schools Officer and Director of Leadership Development to implement academic priorities and ensure vertical alignment among schools.
  • Works with Principals to develop and implement long‑term curriculum, assessment, and school improvement plans.
  • Collaborates in hiring, onboarding, management, and evaluating all staff, including Principals and school‑based instructional and culture teams.
  • Plans and leads regular professional development sessions for the Principals, Instructional and Culture communities.
  • Ensures Principals have a clear plan for improvement of Instruction and School Culture.
  • Engages Principals in weekly academic program analysis and progress monitoring.
  • Manages long‑term and annual school planning.
  • Supports the development of strong school operational systems and processes focusing on data collection, scheduling, and Special Education programs and services.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Builds and executes strategy, motivates others to make change, and invests in building relationships with stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with fellow Managing Directors of School to ensure consistent implementation of operations priorities across all schools.
  • Strategically prioritizes time to focus on driving school outcomes and sustaining the work.
  • Focuses on building management capacity and ensuring that all regional leaders are equipped and on track to meet goals.
  • Provides Principals with personalized guidance, support, and resources from cohesive regional systems.
  • Partners with regional support teams on all region‑specific initiatives and systems.
  • Serves as the liaison between school and regional teams to identify issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Helps formulate and implement a region‑wide operations strategy and key data analysis events calendar.
  • Serves as a role model as a leader and manager, investing deeply in supporting and developing team members.
Data Use, Data Reporting & Analysis
  • Leverages data strategically to support principals in meeting their goals and improving student and school outcomes.
  • Drives goals and uses data in making decisions, providing in‑depth monitoring of regional performance metrics and producing plans to motivate and inspire others.
  • Builds and maintains data reports and visualizations to display school management results and key performance metrics.
  • Supports school‑based instructional and culture staff using data tools and reports for continuous improvement.
  • Provides additional data reporting and analysis for external accountability, compliance, surveys, operations evaluation, or development tasks.
  • Analyzes school performance management data to identify gaps in school design and make necessary adjustments.
KIPP Capital Region
  • Performs other duties as outlined by the Chief Schools Officer.
  • Commits to furthering anti‑racism, equity, and racial justice in all efforts.
  • Complies with all charter, federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including NYS Department of Education, Department of Health, and NYS Office of Children and Family Services.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Principal, preferably in a charter or public school environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills, especially in building teams, promoting collaboration, managing conflict, goal setting, and holding people accountable.
  • Prior experience working in schools and urban communities preferred but not required.

Salary

KIPP Capital Region offers a competitive salary ranging from $128,300 to $141,800, determined by an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience and longevity within the KIPP network. The new hire’s step/level is determined at point of hire.

DESCRIPTION

Education

  • Bachelor's degree plus 8+ years of experience in enterprise-level account management, with 5+ years in leadership roles

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $170,000.00–$220,000.00.
