Senior Lead Field Architect
Braze
San Francisco, CA
Compensation: 310000 USD Annually

This job is with Braze, an inclusive employer and a member of myGwork – the largest global platform for the LGBTQ+ business community. Please do not contact the recruiter directly.

At Braze, we have found our people. We’re a genuinely approachable, exceptionally kind, and intensely passionate crew.

We seek to ignite that passion by setting high standards, championing teamwork, and creating work-life harmony as we collectively navigate rapid growth on a global scale while striving for greater equity and opportunity – inside and outside our organization.

To flourish here, you must be prepared to set a high bar for yourself and those around you. There is always a way to contribute: Acting with autonomy, having accountability and being open to new perspectives are essential to our continued success.

Our deep curiosity to learn and our eagerness to share diverse passions with others gives us balance and injects a one-of-a-kind vibrancy into our culture.

If you are driven to solve exhilarating challenges and have a bias toward action in the face of change, you will be empowered to make a real impact here, with a sharp and passionate team at your back. If Braze sounds like a place where you can thrive, we can’t wait to meet you.

THE TEAM

Field Architecture at Braze is a pre-sales team focused on our highest-stakes opportunities. We engage early, consulting companies on how to design and build next-generation solutions with Braze. We work directly with their technical leadership: centers of excellence, architecture and engineering teams, and the C-suite. Our goal is to help these stakeholders sign off with confidence that a proposed North Star architecture will hold up in production. We build with the modern composable stack (data warehouses, CDPs, streaming, cloud infrastructure, AI), and what we build for one deal becomes a reusable pattern for the wider field. The team sits in the Solutions organization, led by the Head of Field Architecture for AMER.

THE ROLE

The Senior Lead Field Architect works as an overlay to our Braze account teams. You join a deal as an added technical leader, present in the room and speaking with authority on all things enterprise architecture and integration. Engagements range in size and shape: sometimes owning a North Star architecture end to end, from the first workshop through sign-off and BRD handoff, other times stepping in for a targeted conversation, like a warehouse integration or data strategy question. Throughout, you partner closely with the Solutions Consultant and Account Executive leading the deal.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Enterprise Architecture and Design: Lead high-level "Future State" architecture workshops, mapping how Braze interacts with the broader enterprise stack (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, S3 and other blob storage, Salesforce, Adobe)
  • Technical Stakeholder Management: Navigate complex technical committees and address concerns from Architecture, Engineering, Information Security, Data Governance, and Systems Integration teams
  • Gap Analysis: Identify potential technical blockers early in the sales cycle and design creative, scalable workarounds that do not compromise platform stability
  • Technical Validation: Design and lead proof-of-value engagements that give prospects the evidence they need to make a confident technical selection
  • Enterprise Readiness: Set realistic expectations, anticipating delivery constraints and surfacing risks before close, so what we propose is what customers successfully run in production
  • Standardization & Governance: Develop best-practice blueprints for common enterprise scenarios (e.g., multi-instance global deployments) to be reused across the Solutions organization

Evangelism: When opportunities arise, speak about building with Braze and strong integration architecture approaches (or other technical topics) at conferences and industry events.

WHO YOU ARE

Beyond baseline API and SDK proficiency, a Field Architect should possess:

  • Marketing Technology Background: Experience with email, mobile, database, and lifecycle or loyalty marketing, and fluency in the realities that come with them.Advanced System Design: Expertise in designing composable solutions and understanding the trade-offs between various integration methods (batch ingestion vs. real-time streaming vs. federated audience management)
  • Data Strategy & Usage Patterns: Deep knowledge of how data is ingested, accessed, cleansed, and moved across an enterprise, including a strong grasp of data pipeline technologies (home-grown vs. dbt vs. warehouse-native tools like Snowflake Streams and Tasks)
  • Change Management Consulting: The ability to advise prospects on the organizational changes required to support a modern engagement platform (e.g., Center of Excellence setup)
  • Market & Ecosystem Acumen: Deep familiarity with the architecture and design patterns of the primary platforms in the market, from the legacy Marketing Clouds to modern composable stacks, and the ability to translate their structural trade-offs into a clear, credible case for Braze
  • Experience: 7+ years in customer-facing technical roles (Solutions Architecture, Solutions Consulting, Sales Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, technical consulting) at B2B SaaS or data platform companies. Pre-sales experience is a strong preference, as is hands-on familiarity with the technologies our prospects run: martech platforms (e.g., Iterable, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe), CDPs (e.g., Segment, mParticle), and the modern data stack (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Amazon Redshift, etc)

For candidates based in the United States, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $166,000 and $248,000/year, with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $207,000 and $310,000/year (including bonus or commission). Your exact offer may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to cash compensation, this role qualifies for a comprehensive Total Rewards package that includes equity grants of restricted stock (RSUs) so that you will own a piece of our company.
