The unit will expand to likely 33 beds in the near future. We have an ACGME-accredited fellowship training program in Neurocritical Care. In addition to having primary clinical responsibility in the NSICU, the faculty recruit will also provide attending services for a subset of intermediate care neurology inpatients and ICU neurology consults.

UNC Medical Center is a tertiary referral center for the state of North Carolina, a Joint Commission certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, and a Level I trauma center. The UNC School of Medicine is a US News and World Report 2023 top 30 medical school and, in collaboration with Duke University School of Medicine, is a NINDS (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke) StrokeNet Regional Coordinating Center with a robust Neurology Clinical Trials Unit.
