This long-term, full-time contract opportunity offers a collaborative clinical environment, flexible on-call arrangements, and exceptional earning potential while supporting a vital healthcare initiative with strong executive leadership support.Position DetailsPosition: Anesthesiologist (Cardiothoracic Experience Preferred)Location: Minneapolis VA Health Care SystemOne Veterans Drive, Minneapolis, MN 55417Rate: Up to $16,000 Weekly for Cardiothoracic Anesthesia Expertise!Position Type: Contract Long-Term, Full-Time(Base Year + Four Option Years)ScheduleMonday-Friday, 6:30 AM-3:00 PM (excluding Federal Holidays)Approximately 80 hours per two-week pay periodRotating on-call schedule, collaboratively coordinated30-minute unpaid lunch breakWhy This Opportunity Stands OutPlay a critical role in a strategic Veteran care initiative designed to improve access to essential surgical servicesJoin a highly visible program with strong support from VA leadershipProvide anesthesia services for cardiothoracic surgeries and other complex proceduresCollaborate with an experienced multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient outcomesServe a Veteran population that deeply benefits from your expertise and commitmentEnjoy long-term contract stability and competitive compensationWork in one of the nation's most respected integrated healthcare systemsKey ResponsibilitiesAdminister anesthesia and continuously monitor patients throughout surgical proceduresDevelop and implement individualized anesthesia care plans in collaboration with surgeons and clinical teamsProvide comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative anesthesia careConduct patient evaluations, including medical history reviews and physical assessmentsMonitor and respond effectively to anesthesia-related emergencies and critical eventsMaintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with VA standards and policiesParticipate in quality improvement initiatives, peer collaboration, and clinical education activitiesEnsure compliance with patient safety standards, infection control procedures, and federal regulationsSupport the facility's mission to enhance Veteran access to timely, high-quality surgical careNote: Cardiac device implantation procedures (including pacemakers, LVADs, and defibrillators) may be encountered but are not considered a primary responsibility of this role.Required QualificationsDoctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degreeBoard Certified in AnesthesiologyActive, unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territoryDemonstrated experience practicing in hospital and surgical environmentsStrong clinical decision-making skills and the ability to function independently within a team-based settingExcellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsCommitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered carePreferred QualificationsCardiothoracic anesthesia experienceExperience supporting high-acuity surgical programsFamiliarity with VA healthcare systems, federal healthcare environments, or government healthcare practicesInterest in contributing to clinical process improvement and care access initiativesMake a Difference Where It Matters MostThis opportunity offers more than a contract assignment.
