Penetrant Line Operator I - Titanium Aerospace Manufacturing - Swing Shift

Primary Purpose:
A Penetrant Line Operator I uses Non-Destructive Treatment (NDT) techniques on titanium castings for the aerospace industry. Specifically the use of liquid penetrant solution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Run castings through penetrant line process.
- Keep Penetrant Department clean and orderly.
- May be required to operate hand grinder to remove minor defects.
- Good attendance record.
- Able to understand, comprehend, and follow all verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work on a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Compliance with general company attendance standard is required.
- HS diploma or equivalent GED required, but candidates not meeting this requirement who possesses relevant experience will be considered.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Solid job history including more than 1 year at previous or recent employer.
- Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment background check.
- Must be willing to participate in pre-employment and periodic drug screening.
- Must be able to pass vision screening with or without correction.
- Frequently working near moving mechanical parts.
- Exposure to chemicals including acetone, penetrant, and developer.
- Exposure to dust dirt fumes, noise and chemicals. The work is typically performed under reasonably good working conditions; while exposure to any or all of the mentioned elements may occur, such exposure is generally not present to the extent of being disagreeable.
- Swing (Mon - Thurs. 3:45 PM - 2:15 AM) $1.00/hour shift differential
- Full training provided on weekday shift (Mon - Thurs)
- Overtime offered based on business needs

Wax Cleaner/Assembler - Aerospace Parts Manufacturing

Primary Purpose:
Wax Cleaner/Assembly consistently and accurately cleans wax molds in preparation for assembly.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cleans and assembles wax patterns to specifications using various tools.
- Visually inspect wax patterns for defects.
- Accurately code numbers on patterns for identification.
- Recognize and understand the cause of defects in wax patterns.
- Meet and maintain quality requirements.
- Maintain workstation and equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Extensive repetitive motion of the hands, wrists and arms.
- Able to use small, fine tools.
- Good attendance record required.
- Requires continuous mental and/or visual attention to detail.
- Able to understand measurements and read and use a ruler correctly.
- Able to work as a team player and be self-motivated.
- Able to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.

CPP-Steel Treaters is a heat treatment facility for the Air Craft and Industrial Gas Turbine industry and is located in Oriskany, NY. We are currently looking for an individual for our Heat Treat department. This position starts at $21.35 per hour. $2/hour shift differential for 2nd shift, $1,000 sign on bonus, 5% quarterly bonus, and overtime as needed.
Job SummaryHas demonstrated the ability and skill to perform a variety of tasks necessary for the preparation for parts prior to and subsequent to heat-treating. This may include the ability to maneuver the parts via forklift, stage the parts prior to head treating (special handling or stringing, painting, etc). Should be capable of processing loads with little supervision at least two of the most frequently used furnaces at the site which are largely repetitive and where operational procedures are standardized. Must demonstrate that they are a self-starter, and a team-oriented individual who will occasionally have direct contact with our customers. May occasionally have an additional skill-set, such as the appropriate license to be a substitute driver or specialize in one particular furnace such as an induction operator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
Employee requires some/little supervision as he/she operates heat treating furnaces, using standard heat treating charts, and utilizing knowledge of heat-treating methods, equipment, and properties of metals where cycle time, temperature and methods are prescribed and are largely repetitive and where operational methods are standardized.
Employee sets and regulates temperature controls, visually checks parts for foreign matter, positions parts on racks, loads furnaces, monitors heating cycle to assure that parts are brought up to the proper temperature and for the proper amount of cycle time. In addition, this individual monitors the heating cycle, is capable of answering alarms and clearing the condition causing those alarms as appropriate. Also, this person will remove parts from the furnace; immerse them in a chemical, water, brine or an oil bath for quenching. Additional skills may include (depending upon the equipment at the site) the ability to drive a truck and/or operate specialized equipment such as an induction heating furnace.
Should be capable of reading and understanding work instructions for the staging, loading and finishing of the process (such as hardness testing) for repetitive jobs.
Should be in training or capable of (with supervision) using measuring instruments to insure customer requests for dimensional accuracy – straightness, roundness and hardness. (Micrometer, dial indicator, rulers, etc.) This means they will be able to properly read, understand and interpret the
charts involved, and follow the proper procedures for using the equipment involved to obtain accurate measures.
Must be both knowledgeable and an ambassador of good faith in regards to customer requests and questions. These skills are essential for both phone and direct contact with Steel Treaters’ customers.
Be totally familiar with the procedures to follow in the event of an emergency.
Willingly perform other duties as assigned.
